Here’s the shift I’ve seen change everything:
Time management isn’t about squeezing more into your day.
It’s about protecting what fuels you.

Time Management Strategies That Actually Stick
Here are some practical, life-giving tools I’ve used in coaching and in my own journey. The goal? Balance clarity with compassion.
1. The 3 Big Rocks Rule
Ask yourself daily: What are the 3 most important things I need to accomplish today?
These “rocks” anchor your day, while everything else becomes optional. It frees you from trying to do everything and helps you focus on what truly moves the needle.
Pro Tip: Your 3 rocks can be personal or professional. A therapy appointment or laundry can be just as important as an email follow-up.
2. Time Blocking with Intention
Create designated blocks in your day for different types of work—deep focus, light tasks, and rest. This helps your brain shift gears without burning out.
Focus Hours: High-energy blocks for creative or critical thinking
Admin Hours: Mid-energy blocks for emails, errands, or busywork
Flow Hours: Low-energy blocks for rest, movement, or mindfulness
Think of it like lighting a candle for each task—focused time, then a reset.
3. Protect Your Attention Like It’s Gold
Every ping, scroll, or mindless task chips away at your focus. Set boundaries that serve your peace. Try these:
Mute notifications during your focus hours
Use “Do Not Disturb” or app limits during breaks
Unfollow accounts that drain rather than uplift
Remember: Mental clarity is productivity. Protecting your focus is protecting your future.
4. Build in Buffers—They’re Not a Luxury
Back-to-back scheduling is a fast track to exhaustion. Give yourself permission to pause. Add buffers between calls, tasks, and transitions so your brain (and nervous system) can catch up.
Even 5 minutes of deep breathing or stretching between meetings makes a difference.
