Our Mission
To inspire and motivate you to do something! We want to explore what it looks like to live a meaningful life. When we engage, recognize our humanity and continue to try each day to be at least better than we were the day before, we all potentially become a special connect for someone else. It is our hope you can connect, to yourself and others.
Special Connects LLC is all about connecting: internally and externally. We seek to enrich people’s lives by arming viewers with the tools, techniques and knowledge about the brain, body, occupation and life. By online videos, blog posts and forums, Special Connects LLC strives to offer original and entertaining content that works on improving people’s knowledge and understanding of themselves and how it impacts their life. We seek to encourage people to get active and find hobbies to help their personal growth. As we gather more “connects”, we will work to provide a space where people can meet and make new connections based on various needs and interests. Providing a platform for individuals/families to make meaningful connections within their communities and beyond.
About Special Connects

Who is Justin Lyons?

Justin received a bachelors of arts in Political Science with a minor in Technology and Society, a bachelors of science in Health Science and a Masters in Occupational Therapy. Justin has been working with the pediatric population for over a decade now. His understanding of neurology and how the brain works began both when completing his Masters work as an occupational therapist and simultaneously having the privilege to learn and work under Dr. Robert Melillo, founder of the Brain Balance ® Achievement Centers. Justin has worked in sensory gyms, school systems and at client homes, working with a variety of child populations. He currently works at a premiere special needs school in NYC, serving learning disabled and emotionally disturbed populations. He also provides life-coaching programs for young adults. Justin has been a guest lecturer for the school-aged and graduate level student populations; speaking about health and wellness topics including ergonomics, lifestyle balance and universal design. Justin was a presenter at The American Occupational Therapy Association convention in 2010. Justin also has experience as a certified Irlen screener and provides expert testimony witness based on children’s occupational performance, in the school setting.
On a personal note, Justin is a lover of life. He likes being active and being social. Justin works hard on being a real “Renaissance Man”, as he often engages with his interests. Those interests and hobbies include sports, (especially playing basketball), mosaic art work, singing/rapping, puzzles, painting, DIY projects, hiking and exploring swimming holes. Justin prides himself on being a great friend, leader and go-to support for others. His straightforward approach to communication allows for making more authentic and meaningful personal and professional connections.
